The awe-inspiring coastlines and islands in the Strait of Georgia are heaven to vacationing boaters. Nanaimo is exceptionally well suited to boating and sailing vacations and is a great base for boating excursions to the Gulf Islands and the waterways to the north. Downtown Nanaimo is right on the waterfront, making it easy for boaters to explore the city Pick up a "Come Ashore" package, which features some great information and touring tips, and don’t miss the Dingy Dock Pub, Canada’s only floating pub.
Marinas are also located at Newcastle Island Provincial Marine Park and on Gabriola Island. In Oceanside, marinas and docking facilities are located in Nanoose Bay, French Creek, and Deep Bay. Shuttle services from marinas to golf courses and attractions are easily arranged. Bare boat rentals, guided charters, and dinner and sightseeing cruises are other excellent ways to get out on the water.
