Outdoor Activities in Central Island: Cycling and Mountain Biking in the Central Island Region of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

Central Island cycling and mountain biking

Cyclists of all ages have some excellent opportunities in cycle-friendly Central Island. Nanaimo’s multi-use pathways are not only safe, they are also a wonderful way to see the sights. Options from Nanaimo include: the 20-kilometre Parkway Trail, the shorter and more urban E & N Railway Trail, and the Trans Canada Trail. More cycling opportunities lead you through the scenery on Newcastle, Protection, and Gabriola Islands and throughout Oceanside.
Mountain bikers also have some outstanding options in Nanaimo and in the Oceanside area. The Top Bridge Trail extends five kilometres from Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park to Top Bridge Park, one of only three mountain biking parks in British Columbia. Mountain biking is also a big sport in Englishman River Falls Provincial Park, the site of the annual Hammerfest Mountain Biking Race each May.
