Summer concerts at Bowen Park, the Symphony on the Harbour, the Food Festival, the Friday Farmer’s Market, craft fairs, performing arts, and marine competitions, such as the Marine Festival and World Championship Bathtub Race and the Dragonboats and Adventure Games — there’s always something exciting coming up on Nanaimo’s social calendar.
Oceanside is also renowned for its annual events and festivals. In fact, there are more than 160 annual events on the Oceanside calendar, including the Brant Wildlife Festival in April; Fire and Ice, a dual competition of ice sculpting and chili making; Hammerfest, Vancouver Island’s largest mountain biking competition; B.C.'s largest beach volleyball playoffs; and the much-loved Bard to Broadway Summer Theatre. The three-week-long Parksville Beach Festival features the Canadian Open Sand Sculpture Competition, along with nightly entertainment. |
