Want to catch your own dinner? Central Island has plenty of opportunities for you to do just that. Saltwater fishing charters are available from Nanaimo, French Creek, Nanoose Bay, and Deep Bay. Freshwater anglers have several options as well, including trout fishing at Englishman River Falls Provincial Park and Cameron Lake west of Coombs. Little Qualicum River is another hot spot for trout, while Spider Lake has a reputation for bass. Fly fishing for coho along the shoreline at the mouth of Nile Creek and other Oceanside rivers is a popular fall activity. |
