Sightseeings in Central Island: The Gardens in Central Island Region of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

Central Island gardens

The Mimer Gardens and Woodland is a 28-hectare property featuring a vine-covered, 1929 house, a four-hectare garden, and a woodland with one of the last accessible old-growth forests on the eastern side of Vancouver Island. The property is open to the public for daily tours from April to October; reservations are advised.
Butterfly World and Gardens in Coombs is another great spot for flower fans and features an exotic garden with hundreds of butterflies.
Downtown Qualicum Beach, known as the Village, is another place to see the results of Oceanside’s gardening talents. The artistry and beauty of the flower gardens, hanging baskets, and landscaping in the Village have earned the community international attention. Qualicum Beach, which won the top award in the National Communities in Bloom competition in 2001, has maintained its Five Blooms rank for the past two years and added a win in partnership with Dyce, Scotland in the 2003 international category.
For those who like their gardens au naturel, Rhododendron Lake, near Parksville, is splendid in the spring.
