Situated on the shores of Osborne Bay, at the base of Maple and Richards Mountains, Crofton began as a collection of pioneer homesteads, boomed briefly as a copper smelting town, and was later transformed into a pulp and paper town. Now, this peaceful community draws fishers and boaters who venture out from the government wharf and the boat launch. The Old School House Museum presents the history of Crofton and doubles as a seasonal Info Centre and gift shop. Relax at the beach, tackle the hiking and biking trails on Maple Mountain, take a stroll on the Seaside Boardwalk, and visit the art gallery. BC Ferries offers passenger/vehicle service between Crofton and Salt Spring Island.
