Outdoor Activities in Cowichan: Cycling, Mountain Biking, and Horseback Riding in the Cowichan Region of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
Cowichan cycling mountain biking horseback riding
Cycling opportunities include a three-hour ride from Glenora (southwest of Duncan) to the town of Lake Cowichan along the Trans Canada Trail. The Trans Canada Trail is also accessible from Shawnigan Lake and includes Koksilah River Provincial Park and the Kinsol Trestle (you can’t cross the trestle yet, but it’s an awesome sight!). Mountain bikers love the challenges at Mt. Tzouhalem, which is accessible from Maple Bay. Cycling is also popular along the paved country roads that lead to the Cowichan Valley’s vineyards and cidery. Extreme cycling favourites include Spectacle Lake Provincial Park and Maple Mountain from Crofton. Horseback riding is another spectacular way to explore the region; opportunities range from hourly jaunts to overnight rides and are ideal for families. |
