If you are driving on Highway 1 between Victoria and Mill Bay, your journey will lead you along the Malahat Drive, one of the most dramatically scenic stretches of Highway 1 on Vancouver Island. A viewpoint off the highway is located at the Malahat Summit and grants breathtaking views of Saanich Inlet, Finlayson Arm, the Saanich Peninsula, and the Gulf Islands.
Another spectacular option for travelling between the South Island region and the Cowichan region is to travel with BC Ferries on the Brentwood Bay/Mill Bay route. Named "the most beautiful shortcut on Vancouver Island," this scenic journey across the Saanich Inlet takes about thirty minutes. The ferry accommodates vehicles, as well as foot passengers.
