Galiano Island, named after a Spanish explorer who sailed these waters more than 200 years ago, is considered by many to be the most beautiful of the Gulf Islands. You may think so too once you feast your eves on Montague Harbour Provincial Marine Park, a gorgeous 89-hectare park with pristine beaches, lush forests, meadows, a tidal lagoon, and a network of beautiful, romantic walks. Bluffs Park is another fine example of Galiano’s remarkable beauty and features a lovely view of Active Pass. Boaters and kayakers can access the 147 hectares of stunning scenery in Dionisio Point Provincial Park on the tip of the island. For a bird’s eve view of the island, climb to the top of Mount Galiano, or hike the length of Bodega Ridge. And speaking of birds, Galiano is home to more than 130 species, making it a favourite among bird watchers.
