Pretty Pender Island is really two islands joined by a one-lane wooden bridge over a canal, and locations on the island are referred to as being on either "North" or "South" Pender. An excellent choice for a family vacation or a romantic getaway, Pender Island is known for its many hidden coves and beaches. Ideal for cycling and renowned for kayaking, Pender Island has a great choice of activities the whole family can enjoy. Hiking and walking trails for all levels wind through several parks, including George Hill and Mount Norman Regional Parks, the Enchanted Forest Trail, Beaumont Marine Park, and Roesland, a new 230-hectare park with an extensive network of trails, a freshwater lake, beaches, and forests. Mortimer Spit is a good pick for ocean swimming, kayaking, and boating. If you want to catch your own dinner, charters are available for saltwater fishing. Swimming at Magic Lake, diving at Bedwell Harbour, disc golfing, and conventional golfing on the nine-hole course are other great ways to have fun on Pender Island. |
