BC Ferries provides fast and frequent vehicle and passenger service to the Gulf Islands. From Vancouver Island, Salt Spring, Mayne, Pender, Saturna, and Galiano Islands are all accessible from Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal, north of Victoria near Sidney. Salt Spring Island is also accessible from Crofton in the Central Island region; travel to the other islands, except Gabriola, is possible from Salt Spring Island. Gabriola Island is accessible by ferry from Nanaimo; the trip is a quick twenty-minute scenic cruise. BC Ferries also provides service between Tsawwassen
(south of Vancouver) and the Gulf Islands. Vehicle reservations are recommended for sailings between Tsawwassen and the Gulf Islands.
