Way back in 1778, Captain James Cook sailed into Nootka Sound, claimed the area for England, and established a trade relationship with the First Nations people in the area. Exciting trips on board a converted mine sweeper that transports passengers and freight to outposts in and around Nootka Sound are offered as scheduled tours and as transportation for kayakers, hikers, and campers. The Nootka Sound area is also very popular with anglers and offers some of the best saltwater fishing around. Diving is another big sport here. Chartered fishing and diving trips are available in Gold River and Tahsis. |
