Located at the heart of spectacular Nootka Sound, Tahsis offers world-class saltwater and freshwater fishing, an August fishing derby, diving, kayaking, caving, hiking, surfing, bird watching, and wildlife viewing. In the fall, black bears and eagles are drawn into the townsite by spawning chinook and coho salmon. Explore the picturesque original townsite on an historical walking tour. Take the trail to scenic West Bay, or test your hiking skills on the Ubedam Creek Trail or the Cardiac Climb. The Lookout features the Coral Caves and a stunning view of the Tahsis Inlet. The Nootka Trail offers a challenging hike comparable to the West Coast Trail. Tahsis is also a port for a working freighter that offers tours of historic Nootka Sound. To get to Tahsis, follow the scenic "tree-to-sea route", a well-maintained gravel road north of Gold River, or arrive by boat at local marinas.
