Fishing has long been an important part of the economy in the North Central Island region and to see how salmon stocks are maintained, visit the Puntledge Fish Hatchery in Courtenay. In the Campbell River area, take a mill tour, or tour Quinsam Salmon Hatchery. On Quadra Island, you can experience local agricultural life at a farm stay. Gold River offers several industry tours, including forestry tours, a salmon hatchery, historic marine sites, and a copper-zinc mine. |
