North Island hiking

North Island’s most famous hiking trail is the Cape Scott Trail in Cape Scott Provincial Park, a 22,566-hectare park of incredible beauty and intriguing history~ The 27-kilometre Cape Scott Trail is the park’s longest trail, with shorter trails ranging from 2.5 kilometers to 21 kilometers. Proper equipment and maps are a must in this park; the trails are rough and usually muddy. The 2.5-kilometre San Josef Bay Trail provides access to a beautiful beach and is ideal for families. Both the Marble River Provincial Park trail near Port Alice and the Mateoya Heritage Trail on Malcolm Island are fantastic hikes. Just a few of the many other places to hike include Shoen Lake Provincial Park, Raft Cove Provincial Park near Holberg, the Beautiful Bay Trail near Sointula, and the Dalrymple Hiking Trail from Sayward.
