If you are bringing your own boat, Sproat Lake Provincial Park near Port Alberni could easily become your
favorite vacation destination. Great Central Lake is another popular freshwater boating spot. Saltwater boat launches and protected marinas and moorage are located in several areas, including Port Alberni, Bamfield, Ucluelet, and Tofino. The Broken Group Islands in Barkley Sound are a boating destination; however, only competent, experienced boaters should consider an expedition to these islands on their own; care is needed as the islands’ waters are studded with reefs and are often obscured by heavy fog. |
