Outdoor Activities in Pacific Rim: Kayaking in the Pacific Rim Region of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

Pacific Rim kayaking

Kayaking is a fabulous way to explore the breathtaking scenery of the Pacific Rim region. Guided adventures for all skill levels, lessons, equipment rentals, and kayak transportation are available in all Pacific Rim communities, and you have plenty of both freshwater and saltwater paddling places to choose from. Great Central Lake is a popular spot for kayakers, as is Port Alberni’s harbor and along the Alberni Inlet. You can catch a ride on a passenger and cargo freighter and be transported, with your kayak and camping gear, to Barkley Sound, one of the best ocean-kayaking destinations on Vancouver Island. The Broken Group Islands can only be reached by boat and only experienced kayakers should attempt these waters on their own; tours are strongly recommended. Both Bamfield and Ucluelet harbours are excellent, scenic places for beginners, as are the Deer Group Islands offshore from Bamfield. The protected inlets and waterways of Clayoquot Sound, which surrounds Tofino, are renowned for offering challenges to all skill levels.
