Victoria is renowned for its excellent temperate-water diving. Race Rocks Underwater Marine Park, South Island’s top scuba diving destination, is easily reached by boat from several communities.
Charters, equipment, and guides are available. Divers also enjoy exploring the area around the breakwater off Dallas Road in Victoria. About ten minutes away from Sidney by boat, there are two artificial diving reefs, the GB Church and the MacKenzie, that provide hours of excitement to divers. Diving from the shore
is also possible from Sidney’s Pier on Bevan, an artificial reef that extends from the beach. More opportunities are available from Tod Gowiland Provincial Park where divers can access the clear waters of Finlayson Arm and the Saanich Inlet.
