Exploring the West Coast wilderness on a guided eco-tour is another South Island specialty. The Royal B.C. Museum, Capital Regional District Parks (CRD), and a number of private companies conduct fun, educational eco-tours for adventurers of all skill and experience levels. Eco-tour themes cover a huge range of subjects, from archeology and coastal eco-systems, to insects, marine mammals, and birds. The tours can involve hiking, sailing, kayaking, or floatplane excursions and can last from two hours to several days in length. |
