Oceanside Route

The Oceanside Route (Hwy 19A) is an especially scenic section of the Island Highway System that runs parallel to Highway 19. Beginning just south of Parksville, the Oceanside Route is accessible from several exits located along Highway 19 and follows the coastline all the way to Campbell River. Along the way, enjoy the sights of picturesque coastal communities like Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Qualicum Bay, Bowser, Deep Bay, Fanny Bay, Buckley Bay, Union Bay, Merville, Black Creek, and Oyster River. North Island Route

The North Island Route extends from Campbell River to Port McNeill and on to Port Hardy, the northern terminus of the Island Highway System. Exits to communities such as Sayward, Telegraph Cove, Port Alice, and Coal Harbour are located along the way. The North Island Route is another of the Vancouver Island’s most scenic drives, taking travellers safely into the pristine wilderness of this spectacularly beautiful, densely forested area. Wildlife sightings are very commun along this route. Fuel, accommodation, and services are available in the communities along the way, and access to parks, viewpoints and attractions are marked.
