24 Hours Cafes and Clubs in Vancouver

This is not a city known for its late-night life, but it’s starting to happen. The Naam (see “Vegetarian restaurants”) is always open. One of the safest (perhaps) and most pleasant places to hang out in the small hours, or anytime, is Calhoun’s Bakery Café (3035 West Broadway, Kitsilano, 604-737-7062). This is a large place, successfully decorated on a country log-cabin theme, filled with generous-sized wooden tables at which university students with laptops appear to have settled for good. Good, inexpensive, deli-style food with beer or wine is always available.
The Bread Garden bakery and café on South Granville (2996 Granville Street, Central Vancouver, 604-736-6465, one of more than a dozen Lower Mainland locations) serves good basics such as lasagna, Thai salads, and wraps at all hours.
The Vine Yard (2296 West 4th Avenue, Kitsilano, 604-733-2420) is open twenty-four hours, although the food’s not inspiring. If you need a drug store, Shoppers Drug Mart and pharmacy (2302 West 4th Avenue, Kitsilano, 604-738-3138) is always open. On the Internet front, Robson pc & Video (1690 Robson Street, West End, 604-685-4645) is both a Korean video outlet and a well-equipped English-and Korean-language Internet café. For fitness all-nighters, Fitness World (200—1185 Georgia Street, Downtown, 604-662-7774) is open round the clock, Monday through Thursday.
