Caribbean Restaurants and Cafes in Vancouver

The Reef (4172 Main Street, East Vancouver, 604-874-5375), with a nice patio space and suitably Jamaican attitude, serves jerk, roti, curries, and breakfast dishes the likes of “mo’bay” — a frittata of three eggs with chorizo, tomato, onion, and cheddar cheese.
Popular Jamaican patties — sold singly or by the frozen dozen, in mild or hot varieties such as curry and spinach — are produced for businesses across town and available to the public at The Patty Shop (4019 Macdonald Street, Westside, 604-738-2144). The shop also makes chicken and veggie roll.
Trinidad and Tobago-style roil and Jamaican jerk, with music of similar origins, can be had at a simple and popular hangout known as Roti Bistro (1958 West 4th Avenue, Kitsilano, 604-730-9906).
