Internet Access in Vancouver

Internet access is everywhere these days, so I won’t provide a lot of listings. You can even access it free at the downtown Vancouver Public Library (350 West Georgia Street, Downtown, 604-331-3600) and most branch libraries, although you may have to wait for a terminal.
On high-traffic Davie Street in the accessible West End, there’s Hot-Wired Internet (1072 Davie Street, 604-682-5272) and its parent outlet, the Downtown Computer Centre (1035 Davie Street, 604-682-5240), although the latter business is more geared to computer repairs and upgrades. This neighborhood is also home to Internet Coffee (1104 Davie Street, 604-682-6668, open to the small hours of the morning). Downtown, you’ll find The Byte Place (1636 Robson Street, 604-683-2688). Across from the central branch of the public library, Websters Internet Café (340 Robson Street, 604-915-9327) is open daily to midnight.
High-speed wireless Internet service is available from the FatPort “wireless Ethernet” system (www.fatport.com) at two coffeehouses with comfy lounge chairs and a laptop-friendly ambiance: Blenz (338 Helmcken Street, Yaletown, 604-609-2768) and Seattle’s Best (1137 Hamilton Street, Yaletown, 604-685-6511). On the eastern fringe of Kitsilano, and reasonably close to the Vancouver International Hostel at Jericho Beach, is Kitsilano’s Cyber-Café (3514 West 4th Avenue, 604-737-0595).
