Stravinsky in Vancouver

Serious fans of the great. Russian conductor Igor Stravinsky might be interested to know that the UBC Library (Main Library, 1956 Main Mall, UBC, 604-822-2521, www.library.ubc.ca) recently acquired the largest collection of Stravinskiana in Canada, among the top five collections in the world. Bequeathed by UBC-traifled Dr. Cohn Slim, an American music professor, the collection includes a signed edition of Stravinsky’s ballet Petroushka, signed sketches of the Divertimento and Les Noches, and photos and portraits 123 personal items in all. This is a treasured gift: Stravinsky conducted his music twice with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, in 1952 and 1965.
